West Bengal's Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said Monday the state CID will probe the death of Bengali actor Rahul Arunodoy Bandyopadhyay. He died mysteriously at Talsari beach in Odisha on March 29. The actor was filming TV series Bhole Baba Par Karega when it happened.
Reports say Bandyopadhyay entered water as tide came in,got swept away. Technicians pulled him out,but he was declared dead shortly after reaching hospital in Digha,East Midnapore. Initial checks point to drowning.
After this tragedy,concerns about filming safety protocols have spiked. Co-actors and artists angry over lack of safety at beach — some claim production team skipped necessary shoot permissions . Bandyopadhyay's colleagues went on strike, demanding full investigation into his death.
His wife, Priyanka Sarkar,filed FIR for unnatural death. Odisha police set up SIT to dig deeper. Actor's death also stirred trouble within production company. Leena Gangopadhyay, company head and former close ally of ex-Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, quit her role as chair of West Bengal Commission for Women under pressure.
