In Telangana, political tensions ramp up as local BJP leaders push to start talks between Congress and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) . This comes amid ongoing disputes over governance issues.
N . Ramchander Rao,state's BJP chief,says his party wants to create space for both sides to present positions, clarify allegations. “We are ready to bring to light the realities regarding both the Congress and BRS for people of Telangana,” he said,echoing Bandi Sanjay Kumar,Union Minister of State for Home Affairs,who's been pushing for this on social media.
At a recent book launch for ‘Fighters Against Emergency in Nalgonda District,' by Chinta Mutyala Rao,Rao slammed Congress, referencing its role during Emergency. Accused them of undermining constitutional integrity,making baseless claims against BJP, which he says upholds democracy.
Rao stressed Congress hasn't apologized for Emergency actions,even after five decades. Insists they recognize plight of those imprisoned,tortured. Recalls how former PM Indira Gandhi declared Emergency to quash dissent after unfavorable election ruling.
He noted widespread persecution faced by members of RSS and Bharatiya Jana Sangh,alongside arrests of students,legal professionals. “It is crucial for us to ensure that this troubling chapter in Indian history is communicated clearly to every citizen, particularly the youth,” he stated.
Rao also pointed out PM Narendra Modi has started efforts to add lessons from Emergency into school curricula,to educate future generations about this moment in India's democratic path.
