June 15,2026,West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced ₹8,500 crore for state under Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission Gramin (VB-G RAM G) scheme. Funds will boost rural jobs and development . ₹2,400 crore set for Gram Sadak Yojana,₹1,000 crore already sent by Centre .
Adhikari announced during 'Jan Kalyan Shivir' launch in Nandigram,Purba Medinipur district. Running June 15-17, 1,100 camps across state will facilitate access to 54 welfare schemes from Central and State governments. "First outreach programme of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in West Bengal," he said. Urged residents to visit camps,10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.,learn about benefits,submit applications.
But Chief Minister raised concerns on welfare distribution integrity. Questioned eligibility of undocumented migrants,families not enrolling kids in recognized schools,especially where 'Vande Mataram' isn't sung. Criticized previous administration for database irregularities,pledged commitment to genuine aid distribution . "We want benefits to reach genuine beneficiaries,not fake account holders," he stressed.
Long lines of applicants formed on opening day,demonstrating public interest. Camps offer info on schemes like Annapurna Yojana,Ayushman Bharat. Adhikari said VB-G RAM G replaces Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA),promising 125 days of rural household employment annually.
