CSIR-Central Food Technological Research Institute (CSIR-CFTRI) in Mysuru threw a spotlight on coffee with one-day training program. Partnered with 7 Beans Group from Sakleshpur, the event aimed to upskill coffee growers,entrepreneurs,and industry players.
Director Giridhar Parvatam kicked things off, excited about the collaboration's potential to boost coffee sector. He stressed that better coffee quality and added value are key to lifting farmers' incomes and satisfying consumers.
Pradeep K. N.,president of 7 Beans Group,emphasized the need for solid agricultural and post-harvest methods to churn out top-notch coffee . He pointed out consumer preferences are crucial, as their acceptance dictates the success of coffee producers.
Dharmaraj H. S., Chairman of 7 Beans Group, talked about challenges coffee cultivators face. He suggested mixing traditional knowledge with modern science to ramp up productivity and profits,drawing from his own natural farming experiences.
A . A. Inamdar,head of Technology Transfer and Business Development at CSIR-CFTRI,showcased various tech developed by institute. He urged participants to tap into CSIR-CFTRI's resources for creating innovative coffee products and ventures.
The program featured technical talks on coffee cultivation, agronomy, quality checks, and business opportunities. Experts like Nanishankar H. V.,Sudheer Kumar Y.,Pavan Kumar P ., and Pushpa S. Murthy shared insights, broadening participants' coffee industry knowledge .
Attendees visited advanced CSIR-CFTRI facilities,including the CFTRI Showcase and Pilot Plant. They saw cutting-edge food processing tech in action,including the Electronic Nose (E-Nose) and Electronic Tongue (E-Tongue).
A panel discussion moderated by Pushpa S. Murthy let attendees dive into developing new coffee products. The day wrapped up with an interactive session leaving delegates hopeful about the future of scientific coffee cultivation.
About 170 coffee growers from 7 Beans Group joined, showing strong commitment to boosting coffee sector quality and competitiveness. This training is expected to push coffee cultivation practices and value addition forward in the region.
