China's Vice-Premier Ding Xuexiang made clear the nation's dedication to keeping global supply chains steady during a speech Monday. This,as the crisis in Strait of Hormuz unfolds. At fourth China International Supply Chain Expo in Beijing,Ding pushed back against Western claims painting China as a market disruptor.
“Chinese manufacturing never falters or fails at critical moments . Proves China is a participant, builder, defender of the global supply chain,” he said. Tensions in the Strait of Hormuz have stirred fears over energy, fertilizer supply issues, leading to demands for open global energy market.
Ding dismissed claims of overcapacity in Chinese manufacturing, calling them a Western tactic to justify protectionism. He insisted China's industrial rise comes from reform, opening up, a strong industrial base and large domestic market. Not government help or protectionism.
“China never actively pursues trade surplus,” Ding noted, pointing to export controls from other countries as main barrier to more imports. His comments signal broader effort by Beijing to change how its economic role is viewed globally. Especially with geopolitical tensions heating up…
