In Cyberabad,police nabbed two men tied to a visa extension scam that swindled victims out of ₹9.6 lakh. Cyber crime unit caught suspects,Arjun Reddy,38, from Guntur,and Anjaiah Reddy, 45,from Narasaraopet,after a complaint kicked off the probe.
Fraud surfaced when woman reported being promised long-term visa extension for her daughter. She was told her money would be refunded if it failed. Trusting them,she sent multiple transfers to accounts they gave. But after pocketing the cash,they kept sending bogus updates on visa, collected personal docs,then demanded more money before cutting off all contact .
Police found this wasn't a one-off. The suspects used similar tricks on other victims,drawing them in through friends and social media with promises of visa help. They charged fees, sent fake updates, then vanished .
After deep dive into call records,bank accounts, mobile tracking,and intelligence gathering,authorities pinpointed both men. They're now charged under Sections 318(4) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and 66-D of Information Technology Act,2000.
