40,009 of these roles will spread across departments,greenlit by Finance Department for 2023-2024. Rest,32,177 posts,earmarked for Kalyana Karnataka cadre . Finance Department okayed filling 80% of vacancies here under Article 371 J. Right now,around 36% of 2.94 lakh sanctioned posts in 43 departments unfilled. Meanwhile,70,492 personnel outsourced by government.

Recruitment in Karnataka hit major snags since 2023 . Ongoing court battles over reservation policies caused this. State tangled in legal disputes on reservation quota hikes,challenged in Karnataka High Court. Aspirants worried—government had allowed age relaxations up to five years due to COVID disruptions.

Karnataka Examinations Authority and Public Service Commission started posting hundreds of jobs. But appointment orders mostly stuck. Some conditional appointments made,waiting on court's word. Cabinet recently rolled back quotas for Scheduled Castes and Tribes from 17% to 15% and 7% to 3%,keeping reservation cap at 50%. Also,internal reservation within 15% SC quota now in play.

Circular from Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms put Additional Chief Secretary-cum-Development Commissioner in charge of recruitment in 17 departments. Another Additional Chief Secretary will oversee 34 departments. Circular orders all recruitment notifications issued in two months,exams wrapped in four months,appointment orders in six months .

Two senior officers now coordinating with Karnataka Public Service Commission,Karnataka Examination Authority . This change meant to boost response times. Previously,department heads delayed clarifications on roster,reservation issues,slowing recruitment.
