Police in Dehradun broke up illegal gambling ring Wednesday,arresting 13 people,including a U.S. national. Raid happened at a home in Tibetan Colony,under Rajpur police station's watch.
Cops seized over ₹1.5 lakh in cash,plus US dollars,playing cards,gambling chips,and dice. Tip-off led them to high-stakes gambling in area . Surprise raid on house along Sahastradhara Road caught 13 gambling at four tables.
Among arrested: Tashi Dando,a U.S. citizen from Oregon; Tenzin Chhoge from Sirmaur district,Himachal Pradesh,and 11 more from Tibetan Colony. Police found 167 decks of cards,625 dice,118 gambling chips,besides cash and foreign currency .
P D Bhatt,Rajpur Station House Officer,said suspects admitted money was from gambling stakes,winnings. Case filed against all 13 under Sections 3, 4,5 of Gambling Act. Investigations ongoing to see how long this operation ran,if it's part of bigger network .
