M. Liju,Excise and Cooperation Minister,laid out plans to boost Excise department with tech to tackle youth substance abuse. At the passing-out parade for 66 Civil Excise Officers in Thrissur, he stressed integrity,dedication in their service. Despite rough weather, around 1,000 showed up .
Of the new officers,41 have undergraduate degrees, seven are postgraduates . Others include eight B.Tech holders,one MBA,one B.Ed, six diplomas. Liju is hopeful about a new liquor policy coming soon,which he thinks will address substance misuse issues.
Marking World Environment Day,the Minister planted fruit saplings on academy grounds . And awarded top cadets,offered financial help to family of Aneesh,a former staff member who passed away recently .
