Heavy rainfall hit Kochi, but no major waterlogging this season, says Mayor V.K. Minimol. She told reporters Friday that trouble spots like M.G. Road and KPCC Junction stayed mostly dry. A big change from past years when rain snarled traffic.
Minimol credited the Corporation's work over last three months. Regular pre-monsoon check-ins,three times a week, with engineering and health teams. Even Madhava Pharmacy Junction and areas near Lulu Mall saw little trouble despite nonstop rain.

Control room squads now in place to watch for flooding. Steps like drain cleaning, desilting, and removing water hyacinth keep drainage flowing. Minimol assured locals that waterlogging is closely monitored, efforts ongoing to tackle any issues.
Responding to a protest by Democratic Youth Federation of India activists about waterlogging,Minimol called it “mere political drama.” She stressed that the committee is open to public input, ready to integrate feedback into plans. Mayor emphasized pre-monsoon efforts were done with wide consultations, boosting city’s flood resilience…
