Institute of Town Planners India (ITPI) in Hyderabad marked World Environment Day on June 5, 2026,focusing on climate-resilient urban development. Theme was “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future.” Experts and volunteers gathered to tackle urgent environmental issues.
Chief guest Ashok Reddy, managing director of Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB), stressed need for collective action to protect natural resources. He urged unified efforts to build cities resilient to climate change challenges .
S. Devendar Reddy, chair of ITPI regional chapter and director of town and country planning, emphasized urban planners' key role in sustainable development. Said effective planning crucial for creating cities that are eco-friendly and adaptable to climate shifts.
Telangana Forest Development Corporation (TGFDC) joined the celebrations with its eco-tourism project,“Deccan Woods & Trails.” Around 80 volunteers from groups like Cognizant and Trouw Nutrition India Pvt. Ltd. participated in seed ball prep and a tree planting drive at Botanical Garden.
After these activities, an awareness session featured botanists and naturalists. They talked about urgent need for environmental protection,biodiversity conservation,pollution reduction. Hoped to inspire attendees to act in their communities for a sustainable future…
