Inaugural shipment of chilled seafood from India to Oman took off from Chennai Air Cargo Complex June 1. This milestone export,handled by Lulu Logistics,part of India-Oman Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA),is headed for Al Tayeb Lisla Al Istalakiya and Business SPC. Event saw G. Jayapalan, Joint Director of Export Inspection Agency (EIA),and A. Jeyabal, Joint Director of Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA), present with A. Abhijith,director of Aqua World Exports Pvt. Ltd.
Officials noted Oman is quickly becoming key market for Indian seafood. In fiscal year 2024-25, India sent 7,805 tonnes of seafood to Oman,worth ₹133.46 crore . That number is expected to rise to 9,984 tonnes valued at ₹166.53 crore in 2025-26. CEPA aims to boost these figures by cutting trade barriers, improving market access, opening doors for high-value seafood.
This first consignment is notable step in strengthening trade ties between India and Oman . Potential for growth in seafood export sector is clear. But how far can it go…
