In an abrupt shift in weather patterns, parts of Delhi-NCR experienced significant rainfall early on Thursday, leading to hazardous environment for morning commuters. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) responded by issuing a heightened alert for the capital and its neighboring regions. Affected areas, including urban centers like Noida, Ghaziabad,Gurugram, and Faridabad, faced challenges as rain caused flooding in various locations, creating obstacles on the roads and severely limiting visibility .
The unexpected deluge offered much-needed relief from the persistent heat and humidity that had been prevalent in recent days. Authorities warned residents to be cautious of ongoing weather disturbances, which included forecasts of additional rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds throughout the day. Commuters and travelers were urged to remain vigilant, as such conditions could significantly impede road travel and outdoor plans.
Temperature readings indicated a notable decrease, with New Delhi registering around 24.8 degrees Celsius and a high humidity level at 93 percent. Neighboring regions, such as Palam and Ayanagar, also noted similar temperatures, underscoring cool influence of rain.
This change in atmospheric conditions is linked to the intensifying monsoon across northwest India . The IMD predicts continued rain in Delhi over next few days, with extended precipitation anticipated in multiple northern states as conducive weather systems persist. Further rain is likely throughout the day in the Delhi-NCR region.
