Horticultural Producers’ Cooperative Marketing and Processing Society (HOPCOMS) will soon bring fresh veggies and fruits directly to Bengaluru homes. This Farmers’ Post (Raithara Anche) initiative,a tie-up with India Post, promises quality produce within 24 hours of order. Aims to tackle issues seen with quick-commerce platforms.

Before, Karnataka State Mango Development and Marketing Corporation Limited (KSMDMC) used India Post for mango delivery. Now,HOPCOMS is researching which veggies Bengaluru folks prefer. General Manager Vinayak Reddy said cooperative's already made headway in fruit delivery, with 936 mango boxes — each three kilograms — plus over 12 boxes of assorted imported fruits like Apple Gala,South African oranges, and kiwis, delivered between May 29 and June 23,2026 .

As HOPCOMS readies for veggie deliveries,Reddy stressed knowing consumer tastes. “We are currently studying market trends and what vegetables people in Bengaluru prefer to consume. Once that study is completed,we will launch the delivery of vegetables also through our official website,” he said.

In a field dominated by fast delivery services,HOPCOMS isn't trying to compete directly. Amitha Pandey,Technical Coordinator at HOPCOMS,explained that while quick-commerce often promises under 30-minute delivery,HOPCOMS focuses on quality. “Ours are the top quality or first-grade ones,” she asserted. Cooperative's gotten good feedback from those receiving mangoes, vegetable offerings.

HOPCOMS delivery fee stands at ₹93,lower than usual rates for postal document delivery. Strategy aims to lure customers while keeping costs down. Reddy highlighted HOPCOMS's commitment to sourcing best produce. “Our officials go to APMCs or K.R. Market almost every day to inspect the quality of vegetables,” he explained. Auctions start early morning, letting HOPCOMS pick first-grade stuff based on size,look,blemish-free.

Supporting local farmers,HOPCOMS pays one or two rupees more per kilogram than private traders. About 9,000 farmers are registered with cooperative, ensuring fair crop compensation. Reddy noted many farmers sell lower-grade produce to local markets, keeping HOPCOMS's quality rep intact .

A senior India Post official expressed excitement over partnership, saying, “We are glad that they chose us to deliver fruits and soon vegetables to people’s doorstep. Unlike other platforms, even if it is one box of fruits, our postmen travel and deliver to the right address.” This teamwork mirrors a trend of blending traditional farming with modern delivery systems. But will it change how people get their greens…?
