Telangana government greenlit restoration of eight historic arches in Hyderabad,dating back to Qutb Shahi and Asaf Jahi eras. Project costs ₹11.86 crore. Aims to revive structures key to city’s architectural legacy.
Arches up for restoration include Hussaini Alam Kamaan,Diwan Deodhi Kamaan I and II,Dabeerpura Kamaan, Hashmat Jung Kamaan, Chatta Bazaar Kamaan, Shaik Faiz Kamaan,and Ranigunj Kamaan. Decision follows QQSUDA concerns that previous ₹2 crore allocation for minor repairs wasn't enough for structural integrity.
Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority will fund project. QQSUDA authorized to seek consultancy proposals for detailed project reports and cost estimates. Government stresses consulting heritage conservation experts,ensuring guideline compliance and necessary permissions.
Last month,heavy rains brought down part of Chatta Bazaar arch in Diwan Deodhi complex. No injuries reported. Complex,linked to Salar Jung family,was key in transforming Hyderabad's administration during Asaf Jahi period .
