Authorities cracked down on illicit activities, detaining a suspected smuggler of valuable timber. The suspect,25-year-old Shaik Shafi, faces serious allegations linked to multiple criminal cases,including one under child protection law.
Shafi,from a village in Chapadu,accused of leading illegal timber harvesting and trafficking. Investigations say he used a network of associates smuggling timber across Andhra Pradesh,Tamil Nadu,Karnataka . Reports suggest he allegedly hired laborers to illegally cut mature trees in biodiversity-rich areas.
The move followed a formal recommendation from the Superintendent of Police,confirmed by district collector this week. A step to combat illegal activities threatening region's natural resources . But will it be enough to stop the flow…?
