Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on Tuesday said Brazil will look for new buyers for its goods, dismissing US tariffs and thanking China for clearing Brazilian beef of foot-and-mouth disease. This came just hours after Beijing recognized Brazil's disease-free status, which Lula tied directly to countering American trade actions .
Lula declared his nation would "not be treated as an insignificant little republic" by United States. He also called an unnamed Rubio a "frustrated Latino." These remarks followed Washington's decision to slap new tariffs on Brazilian products.
“As God writes straight with crooked lines, nothing comes free for a Christian man like me. What happened to counter Trump’s measure? China accepted that Brazil is nationally free of foot-and-mouth disease,” Lula said. “I’m not going to cry [because of US’ decision]. If you do not want to buy from me, you can keep your things and I will sell to someone else,” he added,in reference to Washington.
