Monday saw a landmark moment as a top legal figure was honored for her trailblazing work in law . The event celebrated Justice V. Mohana,first woman from Tamil Nadu to go straight to the nation’s highest court bench. Also launched was a lecture series for four respected local legal giants: M.K. Nambyar,V.P. Raman, R. Krishnamoorthy, M. Subramaniam.
Justice Mohana spoke on the powerful legacies of these honorees . She praised M.K. Nambyar for shaping constitutional law, especially his work on 'basic structure' doctrine . He is also grandfather of Advocate-General Vijay Narayan. An inspiring figure for young lawyers eyeing top judicial roles.
She then turned to V.P. Raman, noting his record as Tamil Nadu's youngest Advocate-General and first Additional Solicitor General from South India. And R . Krishnamoorthy was lauded for his leadership in the Bar and as Advocate-General under different governments .
And M. Subramaniam was applauded for his precise legal work and mentoring future lawyers. His legacy continues with his son, Arvind Subramaniam,now practicing at Madras High Court.
Present too were V.R. Kamalanathan,president of Madras Bar Association,and secretary J. Pothiraj. They spoke on these icons' lasting impact on law and judiciary . But how will next generation carry this forward…
