National Investigation Agency (NIA) has formally charged Hafiz Saeed,founder of Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT),for deadly Pahalgam attack that killed 26 civilians on April 22,2025. Charges filed July 6,2026,in supplementary charge sheet to NIA Special Court in Jammu.
Agency detailed Saeed's alleged role in conspiracy from Pakistan,highlighting The Resistance Front (TRF),a proxy for LeT. Charges include violations of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023,and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act of 1967. NIA accuses Saeed of waging war against India,plotting terror from across border.
This charge sheet builds on massive 1,597-page document filed December 15, 2025. That named Sajid Jatt,a Pakistani handler,and three others killed in security operation July 2025 . Also accused two civilians of giving logistical support to attackers.
NIA classified both LeT and TRF as legal entities in planning and executing Pahalgam attack. After attack,local police in Anantnag filed First Information Report,handed to NIA by Union Home Ministry for deeper probe.
