NLC India Limited (NLCIL) has partnered with Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) to advance large-scale renewable energy initiatives in Tamil Nadu . The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was formalized by Anurag Mittal,Chief General Manager of Commercial and Business Development at NLCIL, and Manoj Nanda, Chief General Manager of Alternate Energy at IOCL . They were joined by Prasanna Kumar Acharya,Director (Finance) of NLCIL, and Joydeep Chaudhary, Executive Director of IOCL.
The agreement aims to develop a variety of renewable energy projects,including solar, wind,and hybrid power systems. These projects may incorporate energy storage solutions such as battery storage and pumped storage,enabling supply of renewable energy to various third parties. Potential consumers include commercial and industrial sectors,electricity distribution companies,and energy exchanges,as well as applications in e-mobility and production of green synthetic fuels and chemicals.
NLCIL,with nearly 70 years in mining and power generation,is actively diversifying into renewable energy . Its portfolio now includes solar, wind,and pumped hydro storage,as well as green hydrogen and waste-to-energy projects . The Chairman and Managing Director of NLCIL emphasized that this partnership signifies a key step in company's strategic shift towards sustainable energy solutions.
Both organizations expressed a shared commitment to technological advancement and sustainable development,aiming to contribute to nation-building through reliable green energy solutions. This collaboration reflects an increasing focus on renewable energy in India, aligning with national goals for environmental sustainability.
