Students at Government Law College,Ernakulam got a warning about rising cyber fraud risks during a session led by District Police Chief S. Kaliraj Mahesh Kumar. Tuesday's event, part of ‘Safe Kochi City’ initiative, aimed to teach young people about dangers of becoming money mules.
In his address,Kumar stressed understanding cybercriminal tactics as key defense against fraud. He spotlighted new cybercrime trends, like virtual arrest scams and AI-driven deepfake frauds. And he noted transnational scam networks,especially those based in countries like Cambodia,using social engineering to trick victims.
Session included technical talk on ‘Cyber Financial Fraud and Mule Accounts’ by Arun R., senior civil police officer from Cyber Police Station, Kochi. K.S. Shahansha, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order-II),also spoke. meeting was chaired by Bindumol V.C.,Principal-in-Charge of college.
