Congress leader Rahul Gandhi slammed Indian government policies on Monday, saying they're hurting small-scale industries, especially local bus and truck body workshops. Visiting a workshop in Jaipur,he argued that Transport Ministry's rules are choking micro, small, and medium enterprises that should be thriving.
In a video on social media,Gandhi showcased artisans' skill and dedication. The scene had "sheets of iron, welding sparks, the sound of hammers," he described, noting these workers are crucial to India's economy. But he criticized government for favoring big industrialists while small businesses struggle, despite "Make in India" and "Vocal for Local" slogans.
Gandhi said artisans unfairly blamed for technical faults causing bus fires . "MSMEs that ought to be supported are instead being deliberately strangled," he warned. If workshops close,it's not just business losses—skills vanish, jobs disappear, inflation hits citizens harder.
His visit came after March 18 meeting with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. Small manufacturers voiced concerns about new standards and fees threatening them. Priyanka Gandhi said Gadkari promised quick action.
But issues persist,as video showed local body builders' frustrations . They said government still favors big firms, leaving them stuck. Delays in payments, bureaucratic hurdles add to their woes, many waiting over year for subsidies.
Gandhi's comments echo wider discontent among small manufacturers who feel policies overlook them. He stressed these hardworking people bear the brunt of government moves .
Listening to artisans,Gandhi pledged to fight for their rights, urge reforms to aid MSMEs. His engagement highlights ongoing tension between government rules and small industries' realities across India…
