Telangana government's ramping up its anti-drug campaign, urging unity against narcotics. This push came during big awareness event by Eagle Force Telangana with Department for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities,Senior Citizens and Transgender Persons,on International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka was chief guest at Shilpakala Vedika. He stressed need for joint efforts from law enforcement,schools,families to fight drug abuse effectively. “No place for narcotic drugs in Telangana,” he said, emphasizing government's determination to dismantle drug networks,protect youth from addiction .
Vikramarka pointed out that healthy,empowered youth is key for state’s future. He urged young people to chase meaningful goals, steer clear of drugs, saying societal change is needed to tackle drug problem. “Laws alone can't eliminate drug issue,” he noted, urging teachers,parents,public figures to unite to discourage drug use. Short anti-drug videos with celebrities could sway youth.
Minister Ponnam Prabhakar called drug addiction serious social problem threatening future of young generation. He pushed for counseling,rehab over isolation, advocating for understanding. Prabhakar stressed fighting drugs is everyone's job,urging every citizen to be a “soldier” in this campaign .
Sandeep Shandilya,director of Eagle Force,said organization has expanded awareness drives across Telangana, boosting enforcement against drug trafficking. Government equipped Eagle Force with special vehicles,advanced drug detection tools. In 2024,Eagle Force found 822 students involved in drug cases,provided counseling to 600 users .
Shandilya affirmed awareness,counseling,rehab are as crucial as tough law enforcement in tackling substance abuse. He confirmed Eagle Force's goal for drug-free Telangana. Event also showed short films,awareness videos highlighting drug abuse dangers and its impact on individuals,families.
Actor Ram Pothineni urged youth to avoid drugs,advocating for success through dedication and hard work. Actress Meenakshi Chaudhary encouraged making healthy choices, being role models. International gymnast Budda Aruna Reddy stressed discipline,fitness are keys to success.
