Telangana High Court has ordered State government to allocate 300-square-yard house site to war veteran P. Seetaramaraju within three months. Justice N.V. Shravan Kumar made decision after reviewing writ petition by Seetaramaraju, who's in his seventies, fighting for claim since 2002.
Seetaramaraju joined Indian Army as Havaldar January 23,1970,injured in Indo-Pakistan war 1971. After nearly four years, he was medically discharged. In 1993,government of then undivided Andhra Pradesh issued order to provide house sites to war widows, physically challenged ex-servicemen. Seetaramaraju applied but faced endless delays, lack of response from officials .
In 2002,he sought court's help, which directed government to consider application in three months. No action followed, so he filed contempt of court case next year. Court eventually ordered officials to allocate him site as Balanagar Mandal Revenue Officer recommended in Rangareddy district.
Despite orders,Rangareddy District Collector issued memo 2014 denying claim, citing his nativity from West Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh as reason. Veteran responded with certificate from Sainik Welfare Officer showing his permanent address as Kukatpally in Rangareddy district.
Justice Kumar ruled memo's rejection basis unsustainable, emphasizing allotment must follow legal standards, not arbitrary nativity claims. Court's ruling reinstates Seetaramaraju's right to house site. Long battle continues…
