US President Donald Trump confirmed Thursday he'll attend NBA Finals. Accepted invite from New York Knicks owner Jim Dolan. Speaking at White House, Trump said,"The answer is yes,[Dolan] has invited me, I'm going," when asked about Finals plans.
Knicks took Game 1 against San Antonio Spurs,winning 105-95. First two games in San Antonio,then action moves to Madison Square Garden for Games 3 and 4 on Monday and Wednesday . When pressed on which game he might attend in New York,Trump hinted, "It could be Monday," then added, "Maybe I'll do both."
New York also set to host potential Game 6 on June 16. Trump shared his long-standing Knicks support,saying, "I've been a Knick fan for long time and I'm also a Jim Dolan fan." He praised Dolan's competitive spirit and team performance, noting,"He's got a team that's amazing."
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver welcomed Trump's attendance, saying, "President Trump is very much New Yorker." Silver expressed excitement that another New Yorker would join enthusiasm around Knicks. This marks first time a sitting president attends NBA Finals game since Silver became commissioner in 2014.
Knicks making first Finals appearance since 1999,aiming for first championship since 1973 . Their playoff run has seen them win 12 straight games,showcasing strong postseason performance.
