President has told advisors to negotiate from strength,urging sincere engagement. He sees some Iranian leaders wanting better ties with West and Gulf states. "In Iran's system, like others,some see past 47 years of flawed governance," he noted, hinting reform-minded elements in Tehran could gain influence .
Still, he made clear any Iranian attempts to restart sensitive nuclear work or block inspections would prompt stronger Washington response. "If they try to restart nuclear program or deny inspections,President has options," he warned.
Asked about 2028 presidential race, Vance kept focus on current duties. "I’m focused on immediate goals, not future elections," he said,committed to positive outcomes for Americans now.
Vance also criticized Justice Amy Coney Barrett over a birthright citizenship decision, noting "Supreme Court isn't infallible." He confirmed plans to address ruling's effects. On rumors of Justice Samuel Alito's retirement,he said decision is justices' alone .
