Government of Tamil Nadu is pushing to set up fruit pulp factory for mango growers in Vellore region, Textiles and Khadi minister M. Vijay Balaji said . During review meeting Saturday at Collectorate,he laid out key plans to boost local agriculture,civic amenities.
Joined by Collector P.S. Leela Alex and Katpadi MLA M. Sudhakar, Balaji noted areas like Gudiyatham,K.V. Kuppam,and Pernambut have long grown mangoes. Farmers usually sell to pulp makers in Chittoor,Andhra Pradesh. Now,minister vows to back local growers with a mango processing plant. Also pushing guava, brinjal from Anaicut.
Traffic jams in Vellore and Katpadi are headache,Balaji admitted. Government plans upgrades: bitumen roads, regular water supply,modern waste systems. Parks and playgrounds will get attention too.
Smart Cities Mission has ₹1,000 crore sewage project almost done,civil work wraps by July. Balaji stressed these steps will lift quality of life in region.
Education,healthcare were also on agenda . Vellore's low pass rates for Class X and XII need fixing,Balaji said. He also pushed for better healthcare in tribal,remote district areas.
His tour included mini textile park in Gudiyatham,where he met local weavers. Promised dhotis,saris for Pongal will come mainly from local co-ops to ensure timely festival distribution.
Balaji checked out Government Pentland Multi Speciality Hospital in Vellore,reinforcing focus on healthcare improvements in region.
