Tragic accident on Marathahalli–Siddapura road took life of 42-year-old woman,left her 16-year-old daughter injured Saturday morning. Victim, Kantha,was riding scooter to Siddapura to drop daughter at school when vehicle skidded on waterlogged stretch around 7:45 a.m.

Heavy rain overnight left road in bad shape,leading to the accident. As Kantha lost control,both she and daughter fell onto roadway. Before Kantha could recover,a school bus hit her,killing her instantly . Daughter,who saw it all,was rushed to hospital for treatment and psychological help.

Initial reports blamed potholes for Kantha's fall,but Bengaluru East City Corporation officials denied it. Lokhande Snehal Sudhakar,Additional Commissioner,said road was in good condition,free of potholes . “We repair potholes as soon as they appear . Accident spot was completely pothole-free,” he said,adding corporation would cooperate with police probe.
