K-Rail SilverLine Virudha Janakeeya Samithi slammed E. Sreedharan’s high-speed rail proposal, saying it misses Kerala residents' travel needs. In Aluva Saturday, committee leaders criticized Sreedharan's plan, which mimics K-Rail's gauge and speed, claiming it doesn't fulfill essential requirements.
Committee president M.P. Mathai kicked off the meeting, chaired by State chairman M.P . Baburaj. The forum stressed state must focus on automatic signaling systems and building high-speed corridors by straightening sharp curves on current railway lines. They urged government to take this route, announcing protest plans to push for these changes.
Committee argued Kerala's main travel needs involve trips to other states, nearby towns. They said Sreedharan's project doesn't fit these needs . Also, they raised issues about ticket prices, believing they’d be too high for average citizens. Environmental impacts were flagged as another major concern.
