Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) has made big calls shaking up leadership of India's ports,national security. Sushil Kumar Singh now also Chairperson for New Mangalore Port Authority. Alok Sharma's run as Director of Special Protection Group (SPG) extended until March 2027 .
Starting June 1,2026, Singh will helm New Mangalore Port Authority for six months or until permanent pick is made. He's already leading Deendayal Port Authority. This aims to keep port's administration running smoothly .
ACC also extended Alok Sharma's term by nine months. An IPS officer from 1991 batch,his role at SPG vital for protectee security. This takes him to March 31, 2027, bending retirement rules a bit.
Both changes were announced by Department of Personnel and Training on June 24,2026. A move to keep things steady in these key sectors during transition. But how long will stability last…
