Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) just launched big crackdown on cybercrime networks behind Digital Arrest scams,raiding over 80 spots across India. Part of sweeping probe into 200+ cases tied to these frauds. Two arrests so far: Naresh from Chennai,Sanjib Saha from Kolkata.
Under Operation Chakra-VI, CBI deployed 60 special teams for synchronized raids in 16 states — Punjab, Gujarat,Delhi,Maharashtra, Haryana,Tamil Nadu,Telangana, Andhra Pradesh,Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh,Rajasthan, Assam, West Bengal,Manipur, Karnataka,and Odisha. Aim: dismantle network behind these scams .
Suspects accused of setting up shell companies,mule bank accounts,laundering around ₹2 crore in dirty money. CBI found fake website mimicking Supreme Court of India site,allegedly used to trick victims with Digital Arrest scheme .
After Supreme Court Registry complained,CBI kicked off probe. Agency used high-tech forensic tools,expertise to uncover key parts of cybercriminal setup running at home and abroad. Found forged documents, fake court orders uploaded to boost scam's credibility.
Raids turned up loads of evidence: digital devices,phones,bank records. Scam might've hit folks beyond India,possibly snagging victims from other countries. CBI working with foreign agencies to sort it out…
