New Pelvic Health Clinic opened at Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre Thursday, lining up with Continence Care Week. Clinic aims to tackle pelvic floor disorders, health issue often hidden in stigma and misunderstanding.
Sonali Santharam, founder of Birth Basix, led opening,with Samyuktha Venkataachalam,a trustee of SRIHER, by her side. Santharam pointed out how common continence disorders are,yet many suffer quietly due to societal misconceptions. She stressed need to raise awareness about conditions like urinary incontinence,constipation, and uterine prolapse,which often follow childbirth.
Besides launching the clinic,event also saw assistive devices handed to 13 children with special needs. This “Movement Mission” initiative aims to boost mobility and independence for these kids,offering tools like orthotics,wheelchairs,and modified chairs.
Inauguration drew notable attendees like Uma Sekar, Vice-Chancellor,Mahesh Vakamudi,Pro-Vice-Chancellor,and P . Antony Leo Aseer, Principal of Faculty of Physiotherapy. Faculty members,students filled the room. But what happens next with awareness…?
