Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim doubled down on Malaysia's vow to pursue legal action against fugitive financier Jho Low,even if he gets U.S. presidential pardon. Low,mastermind of infamous 1MDB scandal, faces charges for laundering billions from Malaysia's sovereign wealth fund and breaking anti-bribery laws .
In May,Low asked for clemency from former President Donald Trump, who might consider pardoning him amid plans for America’s 250th Independence Day. Anwar said,“That is a decision for the US,” hinting at how a pardon could wipe out U.S. charges against Low.
Low stands accused of using dirty money to cozy up to Hollywood elites and buy luxury properties,a superyacht, and pricey art. Malaysia stays firm in its quest to hold him accountable, insisting its legal moves will press on no matter what happens in U.S . courts…
