During tense UN Security Council exchange, U.S . Ambassador Mike Waltz confronted Iran's Amir Saeid Iravani over recent drone,missile attacks on Bahrain,Kuwait. Waltz shot back at Iravani's claims of U.S. spreading falsehoods about Tehran. "Iran will not silence" council,he said.
Emergency meeting called after Sunday attacks following U.S. strikes on Iran . Waltz stressed seriousness, reminding Iravani of council's authority. "This is the United States of America . This is the United Nations Security Council . You will not silence this body," he declared .
Iravani dismissed meeting as unnecessary,accused U.S . and allies of lying. "Once again, the representative of the United States has resorted to lies and disinformation against Iran," Iravani said. He slammed council members for ignoring Iran's victimization,shifting blame onto his country.
Waltz countered by showing photos he claimed were of Iranian strikes' aftermath. Images included destruction from Shahed drone attack — family home in Bahrain, tourist hotel,first responder facility. "Are they lying?" Waltz asked. "Is this hypocrisy? Is this what this council is here to denounce today?"
On social media platform X, Waltz stood firm,asserting,"Iran will not silence us on our own soil." He compared UN situation with Iran's domestic scene,saying suppression might work in Tehran,not internationally.
Bahrain's Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani addressed council too,detailing attacks on Bahrain. Since February 28, 808 assaults reported — 203 ballistic missiles,605 armed drones . Al Zayani said strikes hit civilian infrastructure,killed three civilians,injured 465,countering Tehran's military-only target claims.
