Authorities in Assam took down illegal liquor operation in Chirang district,recovering large stash of contraband during two-day enforcement blitz. Joint team from Guwahati Excise Intelligence Bureau and local excise units acted on tips that led them to unravel a hidden network of illegal liquor production.
In raids, officials found six hidden drums of Extra Neutral Alcohol (ENA) and three drums of caramel at poultry farm owned by suspect Surana Muchahary. Thousands of branded mono cartons were seized too. At another site,Dipak Debnath's house in Bhutiapara, they found bottle-capping machine and raw materials for liquor production. One suspect,Lankeswar Debnath, was caught,but main suspect still on run.
Further searches led team to a concealed five-bigha plot owned by Sanjiv Debnath. There,126 gunny bags filled with empty liquor bottles ready for illegal bottling were seized . State’s Excise Department called it a major hit to counterfeit liquor trade.
Commissioner Jitu Doley vowed to wipe out counterfeit networks, declaring an all-out war. "Excise Department will hunt down,expose,and dismantle every network trying to run illegal operations," he said. Doley assured the public that no matter how hidden,these operations will be found and dismantled.
Senior Officer Sailendra Pandey echoed this resolve,stating department is ramping up efforts to target roots of these criminal groups. "This massive seizure in Chirang sends undeniable message to culprits looting Assam's revenue," he said. Pandey warned that everyone involved,from suppliers to ground operatives,will face severe legal action .
