Food safety inspections across Cyberabad on Thursday uncovered shocking hygiene violations at several eateries. Cockroach infestations, stale food storage among issues found. Teams from Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) did these checks, uncovering lapses in food safety protocols.
At Bahar Cafe in Madeenaguda, inspectors found unsanitary conditions. Eggs for baking improperly stored. Cockroaches everywhere. Manufacturing area had uneven, slippery floors. Rusted baking trays in use, pigeons in raw material storage. Finished products lacked proper labels, showing only batch numbers with no manufacturing or expiry dates.
The Spice Kitchen in PNR Empire had similar issues. Heavy cockroach infestations in kitchen, freezer, storage. Stale food improperly stored in freezers, grain pests in food products. Raw chicken unwrapped, vegetarian and non-vegetarian items mixed. Poor sanitation near wash area, due to damaged flooring.
At Nawaabs Restaurant in Anjaiah Nagar, inspectors found stale food — meat, rice, chicken — in freezers. Restaurant had poor butchering practices, using non-food-grade surfaces. Water stagnation, slippery floors in food prep areas raised more health concerns. No hot water sanitation facility for cleaning utensils, frozen prawns stored without labels.
Inspectors reported foul odors, blood in freezers, indicating severe hygiene problems. Unhygienic cleaning cloths in food handling areas, minor pest activity in storage spaces noted. This reflects neglect in food safety standards across region .
CMC's inspections show need for better food safety in Cyberabad's eateries. Many places not meeting basic hygiene standards, posing health risks to consumers. Authorities expected to take action…but will it be enough?
