Starting July 1,devotees entering Sri Subramanyaswamy Temple in Thiruchendur will face frisking to enforce mobile phone ban inside shrine. This move aims to tighten a policy running since 2022,temple officials said.
Announcement stressed all visitors,whether in free darshan line or holding ₹100 ticket,must leave phones either at accommodations or in vehicles. Lockers available throughout temple grounds for those who can't .
A former Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department official suggested extending mobile phone ban to VIPs,staff,and priests. Said universal application could address paid darshan issues reportedly plaguing temple.
