Reckless driving plagues Munnar's scenic roads. Authorities cracking down on dangerous antics. Saturday morning, five youths caught hanging out of moving car on Munnar-Bodimettu highway. Local police stepped in.
Deputy Superintendent S. Chandrakumar stopped them after spotting the stunt. The group, from Tamil Nadu, leaned out windows or stood through sunroof. "Two youths were hanging out of vehicle’s windows, while three others were standing through the sunroof," Chandrakumar said. Fines issued, awareness session held to address behavior.
But this wasn’t isolated. Just days before, Thursday, another group pulled similar stunts in Karnataka-registered vehicle near Chithirapuram. Three stood through sunroof, one sat on window frame, another on bonnet. Legal action underway.
Chandrakumar pointed out these risky antics mostly involve tourists from Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, though locals from Kerala join in too. Police to keep up strict checks and fines to stop this trend…
