Doha has seen the repatriation of eight Indian nationals who lost their lives in a tragic explosion at the Barzan gas supply facility in Ras Laffan,Qatar. This brings total number of deceased repatriated to India to twelve,as confirmed by the Indian embassy in Doha. The embassy reported that four bodies were sent back on June 25,with remaining eight following a day later on June 26.
The explosion, which occurred at a facility operated by QatarEnergy LNG, resulted in the deaths of thirteen individuals,including twelve Indians and one Pakistani national. The incident also left 66 others injured,comprising individuals from various nationalities, including Qatari, Indian,Pakistani,Bangladeshi, and Nepalese.
In a statement on social media, Indian embassy expressed appreciation for the swift cooperation from Qatari authorities, community organizations, and Indian government agencies that aided in repatriation efforts. On Friday,Ambassador Vipul and embassy officials visited Alkhor to meet with some of the injured Indian workers receiving medical treatment. The embassy noted that all injured individuals have been provided with appropriate medical care, thanking both Qatari authorities and representatives from the employer company for their support.
