Four workers died after inhaling toxic fumes while cleaning septic tank at jewellery facility in Surat,Gujarat,Sunday morning. Police say asphyxiation likely cause,but postmortem will confirm,said Zone-1's Alok Kumar.

Incident happened in Ashwini Kumar area. Septic tank collects waste from jewellery cleaning. Supervisor and three labourers entered,collapsed from gas exposure. Emergency services got alerted when supervisor called fire department before entering tank himself.

Fire brigade arrived,conducted rescue operation,retrieved all four from tank. Taken to hospital,pronounced dead there. Police now treating case as accidental death.

Authorities probing circumstances of tragedy. Initial findings suggest safety protocols ignored. DCP said,"We are examining whose negligence led to the incident," stressing thorough investigation needed. And CCTV footage under review to see what safety measures were supposed to be in place versus what actually was.
