Launch of “Yogandhra-2026” initiative in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday pulled in big numbers,with 25,000 registrations first day . Campaign aims to get one crore people into yoga before International Yoga Day on June 21. Runs until June 20 with awareness events across 28 districts.
Inaugural event happened at Lepakshi Temple in Sri Sathya Sai district,led by Health Minister N. Satya Kumar Yadav . Yadav called yoga a key part of Indian culture and a boost for physical,mental well-being. Urged citizens to join in.
As campaign gears up,G. Veerapandian,Health,Medical and Family Welfare Commissioner,said 5,922 Master Trainers finished their training over weekend . Sunday alone,they trained 50,752 people. Plan is to train 2.5 lakh people in five days.
Yoga events popped up at key spots: Lepakshi saw 1,952 participants,Ontimitta in Kadapa drew 625. Manginapudi Beach in Krishna district hosted 758, while 2,150 gathered at SV Zoo Park in Tirupati. Theme yoga sessions in Vijayawada,Amalapuram pulled in 1,000 police and 845 farmers.
Yoga awareness contests kicked off through 253 village,ward secretariats,attracting 1,700 participants first day. These run for 13 days with yoga themes. And government told medical colleges to hold Yogandhra activities until June 20,pushing medical students to join. But how many will stick with it…
