Andhra Pradesh braces for wet weekend as India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts isolated heavy rain in coastal areas June 26-28, 2026. Light showers expected in Rayalaseema too,adding to light to moderate rain across state.
Lower tropospheric southwesterly and westerly winds drive current weather . Districts like Vizianagaram,Parvathipuram Manyam,Alluri Sitharama Raju,Polavaram,Palnadu,Prakasam,Nellore,Nandyal,Sri Sathya Sai,YSR Kadapa,Annamayya,Chittoor,and Tirupati might see light to moderate showers.
Rainfall has picked up lately,reducing state deficit from 32.8% on June 18 to 27.3% by June 23,says Directorate of Economics and Statistics. Yet,11 of 28 districts still have a rainfall shortfall. Dr. B.R . Ambedkar Konaseema and Alluri Sitharama Raju districts hit hardest,with over 60% deficits.
Most districts with deficits are in Rayalaseema and north Andhra Pradesh,while central regions see normal rain levels. Upcoming rains might help…or maybe not enough.
