India successfully delivered aid to Venezuela after devastating earthquakes rocked the nation. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar confirmed the shipment Sunday,June 28,2026, saying medical equipment and field hospital unit arrived to back ongoing relief efforts.
On X,Jaishankar voiced optimism that this assistance would boost recovery in quake-hit zones. He posted photos of supplies, stressing India's role in humanitarian aid . “Indian assistance reaches Venezuela. Confident that the Field Hospital Unit, relief supplies, medicines and medical equipment will bolster ongoing post-earthquake relief efforts in the country,” he wrote.
The Indian Air Force (IAF) shared details on Operation Amistad. Two C-17 Globemaster III aircraft embarked on a 23-hour trek from Delhi to Caracas, covering 14,000 kilometers. They landed at Maiquetía International Airport,offloading 66 tonnes of aid, including Indian Army's field hospital,35 tonnes of relief supplies, and vital medical gear.
The IAF stressed mission's importance, saying, “This transoceanic deployment reaffirms India's role as a responsible first responder and a reliable humanitarian partner.” Shows India's readiness to help across continents.
Meanwhile, Venezuela's situation worsens. Death toll from quakes now at 1,430,with many missing. Quakes of 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude among strongest in century, leaving massive destruction.
India's Ministry of External Affairs had shown solidarity with Venezuela and its people during this tough time. “India stands shoulder to shoulder with the government and the people of Venezuela during this difficult period,” it stated on June 26.
