INS Sanshodhak,newest ship in Indian Navy's fleet,docked Kochi on Sunday, July 5. Fourth in Survey Vessel Large (SVL) class, it joins INS Ikshak under Southern Naval Command.
Commissioned June 21 in Kolkata,INS Sanshodhak arrived with two other naval ships. It got ceremonial welcome — water cannon salute,Naval Band played. Families of crew were there too. A big day for ship and its people.
INS Sanshodhak carries advanced hydrographic and oceanographic survey systems,boosting its versatility. Not just for surveying — can handle Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) missions. Even doubles as hospital ship if needed .
