K. Muraleedharan, Health Minister, announced expansion of ‘Kayakalpam’ initiative,which kicked off in Kozhikode on June 9, 2026. This public outreach program will reach more districts starting July,aiming to boost healthcare access across region.
On June 10,Minister outlined plans to evaluate government hospital facilities in Kozhikode. An inventory of necessary equipment for various hospitals will be compiled to address gaps. Upgrades planned for Government Taluk Hospital in Thamarassery,set to become a specialty headquarters hospital. Staffing changes are also on the agenda.
Also,a proposal is underway to build shelter for a mobile tribal unit at family health center in Valayam. This initiative will be funded by Shafi Parambil,local Member of Parliament. An ambulance will head to community health center in Thiruvangoor,with funds from K. Praveenkumar, Member of Legislative Assembly.
The Kayakalpam initiative shows a push to improve healthcare infrastructure and services in state, ensuring essential medical resources reach all communities . But will it be enough…?
