At a recent gathering in Kerala to kick off academic year, Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan laid out a vision for making the region leader in education. The event took place at a well-known secondary school,marking the start of the new school year with a focus on innovative learning.
In his speech, Chief Minister promised to create more opportunities for higher education in Kerala,aiming to keep students from having to leave the state for quality schooling. “Our goal is for Kerala to emerge as a premier destination for education,” he said, vowing to set up top-notch institutions and programs right here. His words struck a chord with the students,educators, and community members present, reigniting commitment to lifelong learning.
To spark scientific curiosity among students,Satheesan announced new facilities aimed at fostering a scientific mindset,named after Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first Prime Minister. He stressed the need to inspire curiosity in education,especially given today’s fast-paced technological changes. “Knowledge acquisition should extend well beyond classroom walls and continue through life,” he noted.
The Chief Minister recognized importance of mentoring young people, calling them the state’s greatest asset. He urged students to avoid substance abuse and support one another. “We need to prevent any negative influences that threaten our youth's potential,” he said, stressing that education is key to a bright future .
During event,N. Samsudheen,the state’s education chief,revealed that 314,000 students registered for school this year. He detailed the government’s initiative called ‘Puthuyuga Vidyalayam’ or modern educational institutions,designed to weave advanced scientific and technological developments into education. Samsudheen emphasized the need to adapt education to global standards, pointing out that today’s students are competing internationally.
“Changes will only come with real engagement from educational professionals,” Samsudheen said,calling for teamwork to strengthen the educational system. K. Muraleedharan,the Health Minister,was also there, reinforcing the government’s commitment to improving educational opportunities in the area.
