Nvidia has rolled out a new chip aimed at desktop systems, marking a big move into devices that use advanced intelligence. At Computex tech show in Taipei, Taiwan, the company’s CEO highlighted this launch, likening its impact to how mobile phones evolved into the smartphones we know today.
The chip, dubbed “superchip,” aims to boost personal assistant features, moving away from traditional computing to more interactive user experiences. Companies like Lenovo,HP, Dell,Microsoft Surface, Asus, and MSI are set to integrate this tech into their new Windows-based systems. Expect these products to hit market in the fall, with Acer and Gigabyte also planning to jump on board.
Nvidia is gearing up to compete with heavyweights like Apple and Intel in the desktop space. In the first quarter of this year, Lenovo,HP, Dell, and Apple made up nearly 75% of the global desktop market .
Meanwhile, the U.S. government has tightened rules on exporting Nvidia’s advanced chips to China. On Sunday, the U.S. Department of Commerce announced new measures to close a loophole that might have let state-of-the-art AI solutions, including Nvidia's Blackwell processors, reach Chinese subsidiaries abroad. This move is part of ongoing efforts to restrict Chinese firms' access to crucial AI resources.
Nvidia's success in meeting the rising demand for data centers capable of advanced AI has pushed its market value past $5 trillion (£3.7 trillion), making it the world's most valuable company.
