Kochi Corporation will soon launch its third roll-on roll-off (ro-ro) ferry,Mayor V.K. Minimol announced. She inspected the vessel at Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) with Ernakulam MP Hibi Eden and several standing committee chairpersons.

This new ferry boosts current fleet. It will carry 14 trucks,12 cars,50 passengers. Minimol said inauguration date hinges on Chief Minister's schedule . Before official launch,ferry hits water this month.

Existing ro-ro vessels to get maintenance through Kerala Shipping and Inland Navigation Corporation Limited (KSINC). After new ferry's in action,two current vessels will be dry-docked one by one. Eden also shared plans for modern hybrid ro-ro vessel to run on diesel and electric. It will hold over 100 vehicles. Built at CSL,funded by central government.

During visit,Minimol spoke with CSL officials. Standing committee chairpersons like T.K. Asharaf,Antony Painuthara,K.A. Manaf,P.M. Naseema,Seena Gokulan, Jismy Gerald,P.S. Shibu showed collaborative effort behind project. But how smoothly will all this progress…
