As Moharram unfolds,Darul Shifa in Old City takes on somber tone,bracing for Ashura. It's time of deep mourning for Shia Muslims, marking martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Husain, Prophet Muhammad's grandson,and his family at Karbala.
Neighborhood echoes with nohas, mournful recitations telling Karbala's tragic tale. They paint bloodshed and suffering of Imam Husain and his companions vividly. Black flags with 'Ya Husain' in red flutter everywhere, capturing community's shared grief.
Sabeels line the main road,offering drinks to mourners. Recitations go day and night,focusing on themes of virtue,struggle against evil. On 8th Moharram,majlis at Ali Lodge draws an emotional crowd. Speaker talks about Imam Husain’s righteousness, significance of his sacrifice . Tears flow as stories unfold .
Earlier,a juloos at Hussaini Kothi saw hundreds paying respects at alams. "For Shia Muslims, Moharram isn't just Islamic calendar start but deep mourning time for Imam Hussain's martyrdom," said Syed Mounis Jafar Abidi,lawyer. He noted preparations begin well before Moharram moon,around 28th Rajab, marking Imam Hussain’s journey from Medina to Mecca.
First ten days of Moharram unfold in stages. Early days remember Imam Husain’s companions. Mourning peaks on ninth and tenth days, culminating in Ashura . This year,Ashura on Friday. Police,civic authorities set plans for azadaari and khooni maatam along historic Bibi-ka-Alawa procession route,dating back to Qutb Shahi era.
For Ashura, Telangana Waqf Board announced funds for 959 institutions statewide,including 735 ashoorkhanas,63 anjumans,161 sabeels. This support shows community's dedication to Imam Husain’s memory,ensuring Moharram observances uphold dignity…
