Naomi Vincent, 23-year-old Kho Kho player and aspiring actor, was declared brain dead Sunday after a tragic road accident . The postgraduate student from St . Thomas College was headed to Thiruvananthapuram for her first job when her vehicle collided with a parcel lorry near Kottarakara early June 25.
Despite devastating loss,Naomi’s family chose to donate her organs, offering hope to patients needing transplants. Organ retrieval is underway, with Youth Affairs and Sports Minister O.J. Janeesh and Culture Minister P.C. Vishnunadh overseeing the process .
Naomi was traveling with her mother,Gypsy, and brother,Joel, both injured in accident. They’re receiving treatment at Ashwini Hospital in Thrissur. Friends and teachers remember Naomi for her vibrant spirit and dedication to sports and arts. She represented her district in Kho Kho and took part in cultural events at college, even appearing in film Kho Kho.
Her passing has cast shadow over her hometown Pullanikkad, near Wadakkanchery, and the St. Thomas College community, which saw her grow into confident young woman with aspirations in psychology . Naomi is survived by father,Vincent, a driver; mother,Gypsy,a gym trainer; sister Angel,a schoolteacher in Ernakulam; and brother Joel,a fellow student at St. Thomas College.
While her journey was tragically cut short, her family hopes organ donation will carry Naomi's legacy forward, giving others a second chance at life…
